Short version: we collect very little. Your email only if you subscribe, standard server logs, and nothing else by default. We never sell your personal information, and we honor Global Privacy Control.
1. Who we are
Roadster Info ("Roadster Info," "we," "us" or "our") operates the website located at https://roadster-info.us (the "Site"), an independent informational publication about roadster automobiles. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have.
If you have any questions, contact us at [email protected].
2. Scope
This policy applies to information collected through the Site and through our email newsletter, "The Open Road Digest." It does not apply to third-party websites or services that we link to, which have their own privacy practices.
3. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Newsletter sign-up: your email address and a record of your consent (date, time and the wording you agreed to).
- Correspondence: if you email us, your email address, name (if provided) and the content of your message.
Information collected automatically
- Server logs: like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records technical data when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, pages requested and the date and time of the request. We use these logs for security, troubleshooting and to keep the Site running.
- Browser storage: the Site stores your privacy choices and, if you use it, your buyer's-checklist progress in your browser's local storage. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to us. See our Cookie Policy.
- Analytics (only with consent): we do not currently run analytics. If we add an analytics service in the future, it will load only after you opt in through our cookie settings, and we will update this policy and our Cookie Policy beforehand.
Third-party content
The Site loads web fonts from Google Fonts. When your browser requests these font files, Google receives your IP address and standard browser information. Google states that the Google Fonts API does not set cookies. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.
We do not collect sensitive personal information, such as government identifiers, financial account details, precise geolocation, health data or biometric data.
4. How we use information
- To send the newsletter you requested and manage your subscription.
- To respond to your messages and requests, including privacy requests.
- To operate, secure and improve the Site, and to detect and prevent abuse, fraud or technical problems.
- To remember your privacy choices.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, our legal bases are: your consent (newsletter, optional cookies), our legitimate interests in running a secure, functional website (server logs), and legal obligation where applicable.
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We disclose personal information only:
- Service providers: companies that host the Site or deliver our emails on our behalf, bound by contract to use the data only to provide their services to us.
- Legal reasons: when required by law, subpoena or other legal process, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety or the safety of others.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of all or part of the Site, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information.
- With your consent: in any other case where you have asked us to.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
We use only strictly necessary browser storage by default. Optional categories (analytics, marketing) stay off unless you turn them on. You can change your choices at any time using the link in the footer. Full details are in our Cookie Policy.
7. Global Privacy Control & Do Not Track
We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and keep marketing technologies switched off for that browser.
Because there is no common industry standard for "Do Not Track" (DNT) browser signals, we do not respond to DNT separately. However, since we do not track you across third-party websites, the practical effect is the same.
8. Data retention
- Newsletter data: kept until you unsubscribe, then deleted or suppressed within 30 days (we keep a minimal suppression record so we don't email you again).
- Correspondence: kept as long as needed to handle your request and for up to 24 months afterward, unless a longer period is required by law.
- Server logs: typically retained for no longer than 90 days, unless needed to investigate a security incident.
- Browser storage: remains on your device until you clear it or reset it on the Site.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) across the Site. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your choices
- Unsubscribe: use the link at the bottom of any newsletter email, or email us.
- Cookies: change your preferences in Cookie settings or through your browser.
- Access, correction or deletion: email [email protected].
11. Children's privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, in line with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Your California privacy rights
This section supplements the policy above for California residents under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (together, the "CCPA").

Shine the Light

13. Other U.S. state privacy rights
Residents of states with comprehensive consumer privacy laws — including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, Iowa, Delaware, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Nebraska, Tennessee, Minnesota, Maryland and others as they take effect — may have the right to confirm whether we process their personal data; to access, correct, delete or obtain a portable copy of it; and to opt out of targeted advertising, the sale of personal data and profiling with legal or similarly significant effects.
Whether or not these laws apply to us, we extend these rights to all U.S. users. Submit requests to [email protected]. If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying with the subject line "Privacy appeal"; we will respond within the period required by your state's law. If your appeal is denied, you may contact your state Attorney General.

15. Third-party links
The Site may link to websites we do not control. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices, and we encourage you to read their policies.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide a prominent notice on the Site or by email before the change takes effect.
